Who is Emily Blunt?

I recently watched The Devil Wears Prada for the hundredth time and I couldn’t help but notice Emily, played by Emily Blunt. Instead of watching Anne Hathaway, my eyes were on red-haired Emily and I just love her accent and wit in the film. I’ve always fancied British actresses such as Keira Knightley, so it’s great to see another English talent on the silver screen.

Emily Olivia Leah Blunt has been acting in many television series and films, but her breakthrough role was probably as Tamsin in My Summer of Love (2004). Then, she acted in a BBC tv movie, Gideon’s Daughter (2005), opposite Bill Nighy and Miranda Richardson, and she won the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Natasha.

Since then, she has acted in several movies including The Devil Wears Prada (2006), The Jane Austen Book Club (2007), Sunshine Cleaning (2009) opposite Amy Adams, and as Queen Victoria in The Young Victoria (2009), opposite Rupert Friend as Prince Albert.

Emily Blunt has recently appeared in Wild Target (2009) alongside Bill Nighy and Rupert Everett. She has also played Gwen Conliffe in The Wolfman (2010), with Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving. We will also see Emily Blunt in Gulliver’s Travels (2010), which is set to open on 24 December 2010. The movie also stars Jason Segel, Jack Black, Amanda Peet, and Billy Connolly.

Emily Blunt is currently filming (voice) Gnomeo and Juliet (2011) with James McAvoy as Gnomeo. She’s also cast for The Adjustment Bureau (2011) with Matt Damon, Shoot The Messenger (2010) and The Girl (2010). Looks like we’re going to see a lot of her in 2010 and 2011!
