Broken Social Scene is an indie rock band from Canada. The band was formed in 1999 by Kevin Drew and Brendan canning. It is a musical collective, including anywhere from 6 to 19 members. The band's genre is sometimes depicted as indie rock, art rock, dream pop, and baroque pop.

Broken Social Scene members include Brendan Canning, Kevin Drew, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Andrew Whiteman, Sam Goldberg, Jason Collett, David Newfeld, Leslie Feist, Emily Haines, James Shaw, Evan Cranley, Amy Millan, Ohad Benchetrit, John Crossingham, Martin Davis Kinack, Jo-ann Goldsmith, Bill Priddle, Torquil Campbell, Adam Marvy, Lisa Lobsinger, Julie Penner, Jason Tait, Elizabeth Powell, and John McEntire.

Broken Social Scene has released 4 studio albums, a B-side album, and more than 10 singles/EPs. The band has also worked on film scores for movies such as Lie with Me (2005), Half Nelson (2006), Snow Cake (2006), The Tracey Fragments (2007), and The Invisible (2007).

Their songs have also been included in soundtracks for tv series Queer as Folk, and in movie soundtracks for Wicker Park (2004), The Tracey Fragments (2007), The Time Traveler's Wife (2009), and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010).

The latest film score that they've worked on is for the move, It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010), starring Keir Gilchrist, Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts.
