TV Thursday - Big Love

Big Love is a drama tv series about a fictional fundamentalist Mormon family in Utah, who practice polygamy. The show premiered on 12 March 2006, and has 4 seasons to date.

Big Love stars Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin, Amanda Seyfried, and Douglas Smith.

Beach Boys' God Only Knows was used as the series' theme song from season 1 to 3, and the song Home by British band called Engineers has been used for season 4.

Big Love has been renewed for a fifth season of 10 episodes, premiering on 16 January 2011. Check out the show's season 4 promo!

Who is Sarah Hyland?

Sarah Hyland is an American actress, born on 24 November 1990. She started her career in entertainment at the age of 4.

Her first film role was in Private Parts (1997). Then, she moved on to more movies such as The Object of My Affection (1998), Annie (1999), The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000), and Spanglish (2004).

Sarah Hyland has also acted in several tv series, such as One Life to Live, Lipstick Jungle, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She is currently playing the role of Haley Dunphy in Modern Family with Ariel Winter as her on-screen sister, Alex.

Sarah Hyland has a few movies coming up, which are Conception (2010), Monster Heroes (2010), and Mother's Little Helpers (2010).

Cowboys and Aliens (2011) is a sci-fi western action movie, directed by Jon Favreau (director of Elf (2003), Iron Man (2008) and Iron Man 2 (2010)). The movie is adapted from a 100-page graphic novel of the same name, created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and written by Fred Van Lente.

The movie stars Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, Noah Ringer, Sam Rockwell, Keith Carradine, and David O'Hara.

Trailer Tuesday - Source Code (2011)

Source Code (2011) is a sci-fi movie about a soldier who wakes up in the body of a commuter, who witnesses a train explosion. It is directed by Duncan Jones and written by Ben Ripley.

The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright, and Russell Peters.

Movie Review - The Social Network (2010)

I just came back from watching The Social Network preview. My blogger buddy, Shemah from Reel Madhouse invited me to be her plus one, and it was the first Malaysian preview for the movie.

I've just deleted some so-called friends off my Facebook friends list a few days ago. How ironic is it that I was going to watch The Social Network?

I don't normally write movie reviews, therefore, pardon me for sounding amateurish. I quite like the movie. I've always liked Jesse Eisenberg and I don't mind Justin Timberlake, but I'd like to see Andrew Garfield in more movies. I personally think that Jesse Eisenberg did an awesome job as Mark Zuckerman, and I cannot picture any other actor as Zuckerman.

I love how the characters are witty and funny without sounding dumb. The script is excellently written and the storyline is very entertaining. I'm giving The Social Network 4 out of 5 stars. Go watch!

Bleed by Hot Chelle Rae (Hellcats S01E09)

Hot Chelle Rae is a band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2005. The band consists of Ryan Follese on lead vocals and guitar, Nash Overstreet on lead guitar and vocals, Ian Keaggy on bass and vocals, and Jamie Follese on drums.

The band released their debut album, Lovesick Electric on 27 October 2009. This song is called Bleed, taken from Hot Chelle Rae's debut album. The song was featured on Hellcats season 1 episode 9.

Fashion Friday #23 - Dress Like Dr. Spencer Reid

Geeky style has never gone out of fashion. If you ask me, I'm all for geeky fashion. Nowadays, you can dress geeky and chic at the same time.

I've been watching Criminal Minds from the earliest to the latest season, and my favourite character, Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) has never failed to look so geeky good. For men, dressing geeky has never been easier.

Men's cardigans, collared button-down shirts, sweaters, sweater vests and trousers would look geeky chic. Classic and retro patterns in neutral colours such as khaki, grey, white or light blue would work well for the look. Always tuck your shirt in, and wear slim neck ties.

Accessorise with nerdy glasses, like black horn-rimmed glasses donned by Dr. Reid. I love his sunglasses too!

Bring around geeky props like a messenger bag filled with books and notes, and stick a pen in your shirt pocket. There you go!

TV Thursday - Modern Family

Modern Family is an American comedy mockumentary. The 30-minute series premiered on 23 September 2009 on ABC. It is created by Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd.

Modern Family stars Ed O'Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Rico Rodriguez. Many celebrities have appeared as guest stars on Modern Family, such as Shelly Long, Edward Norton, Elizabeth Banks, Minnie Driver, Benjamin Bratt, Nathan Lane, and more.

The show has Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series this year, beating Glee, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Nurse Jackie, and The Office.

Who is Lauren Cohan?

Lauren Cohan is an American actress. She is currently playing the role of the vampire Rose in The Vampire Diaries.

Lauren has appeared in many other tv series, such as The Bold and the Beautiful, Life, CSI: NY, Cold Case, and Modern Family. She has also appeared in several movies, such as Casanova (2005) and Float (2008).

I have only seen Lauren Cohan as Bela Talbot on Supernatural, before appearing on The Vampire Diaries season 2 as Rose, and her role has always been English. I'm not sure about her other roles, though, but I love her!

Lauren Cohan will be seen next in several movies: Young Alexander the Great (2010), direct-to-DVD movie Death Race 2 (2010), and Disturbed (2010). In Disturbed (2010), she will be playing Claire, opposite Shaun Sipos, Moran Atias, and Tad Hilgenbrink.

Trailer Tuesday - Season of the Witch (2011)

Season of the Witch (2011) is an upcoming film, directed by Dominic Sena. The movie stars Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Stephen Campbell Moore, Robert Sheehan, Clair Foy, and Ulrich Thomsen.

Plot Summary
Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.

A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. [Source]

The movie was on limited release in December 2009. It is scheduled for wide release on 7 January 2011.

Fefe Dobson is a Canadian model and singer-songwriter. She was born on 28 February 1985 and to date, she has recorded 2 studio albums. Her third album, Joy will be released on 22 November 2010 in Canada, and on 30 November 2010 in the USA.

Fefe Dobson's songs have been featured in movies and tv series. Her songs were featured on Miss Match, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, One Tree Hill, and on The Vampire Diaries pilot. They were also featured on movies such as The Perfect Score (2004), Raising Helen (2004), and It's a Boy Girl Thing (2006). Other than that, her songs were also used in numerous tv ad, tv series promos, and even on The Sims 3: World Adventures.

The song I'm featuring is called Stuttering, taken from Fefe Dobson's third album. The song was featured on Hellcats episode called Nobody Loves Me But My Mother, and on episode 9, Finish What We Started, Fefe Dobson appeared and performed the song.

Fancy a fun-filled, family movie? The Zookeeper is an upcoming animation film directed by Frank Coraci, who brought us The Wedding Singer (1998), Waterboy (1998), and Click (2006).

The Zookeeper (2011) stars Kevin James, Ken Jeong, Rosario Dawson, Leslie Bibb, and Donnie Wahlberg, with voices by Sylvester Stallone as Lion, Adam Sandler as Monkey, Cher as Giraffe, Jon Favreau as Bear, and Judd Apatow as Elephant.

The Zookeeper is scheduled for release on 8 July 2011 in the USA and 11 August 2011 in Malaysia.

How Do You Know (2010) is an upcoming romantic comedy, directed by James L. Brooks. The movie stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Jack Nicholson.

The movie is about a former athlete, Lisa Jorgenson who finds herself in the middle of a love triangle, as a corporate guy in crisis competes with Lisa's current, baseball-playing beau.

How Do You Know (2010) is scheduled for release on 17 December 2010.

Running Up That Hill by Placebo (Live in Reading, 2006)

Placebo is an alternative rock band form in London in 1994, currently comprised of Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal, and Steve Forrest.

The band has released 6 studio albums and 2 compilation albums, with 31 singles released throughout their entire career so far. Their hits include Pure Morning, and one of my favourite songs of their's is Every You Every Me, taken from Placebo's second album, Without You I'm Nothing (1998).

Placebo's single, Post Blue, taken from their fifth album Meds (2006), was also featured on One Tree Hill season 4. It's another favourite of mine. Go listen!

The song I'm featuring this week is Running Up That Hill, originally sung by 70's singer Kate Bush. The song has been featured on The Vampire Diaries, Bones, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The O.C. The song was also featured in Daybreakers (2009) movie trailer, and in the movie From Paris With Love.

TV Thursday - Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior

Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior is one of CBS's latest series, which is a spin-off of the popular Criminal Minds. The new series will debut in 2011, featuring a new team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), also based in Quantico, Virginia.

The new BAU profiling teams include Richard Schiff as FBI Director Jack Fickler, Forest Whitaker as BAU Unit Chief Sam Cooper, Matt Ryan as SSA Mick Rawson, Beau Garrett as SSA Gina LaSalle, Michael Kelly as SSA Jonathan "Prophet" Simms, and Janeane Garofalo as SSA Beth Griffith. Kirsten Vangsness will be reprising her role as Penelope Garcia, the team's technical analyst.

The new team has appeared on Criminal Minds season 5 episode 18, "The Fight". Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will debut sometime in January 2011. Can't wait!

Who is Olga Fonda?

Olga Fonda, born Olga Tchakova is an Russian-born American model and actress. The Russian beauty came to America from Uhtka, Russia in 1996 when she was 14 years old.

The 28-year-old beauty has appeared in minor roles on tv series such as Nip/Tuck, Ugly Betty, Entourage, How I Met Your Mother, Melrose Place, and Svetlana. She has also appeared a movie called Love Hurts (2009).

Olga Fonda will be seen playing uncredited roles in Little Fockers (2010), and Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), with Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Kevin Bacon, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, and Steve Carell.

She will also be appearing in Real Steel (2011), alongside Hugh Jackman and Evangeline Lilly.

As of 27 October 2010, Summit Entertainment has announced that Olga Fonda will be playing a role in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (2011).

Unknown (2011) is an action thriller movie, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The movie is based on the novel by Didier van Cauwalaert titled Out of My Head.

The movie is about a man, who woke up from a coma in Berlin, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one, not even his wife, believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.

Unknown (2011) stars Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones, Frank Langella, Aidan Quinn, and Bruno Ganz.
